PUS1, or Pseudouridine synthase 1, plays a crucial role in the post-transcriptional modification of RNA by converting uridine into pseudouridine, a modification that enhances the stability and functionality of tRNA and rRNA molecules. This modification is vital for the proper folding and function of these RNA species, which are essential for protein synthesis and cellular function.
