Prolactin Antibody (PRL-149L II) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Prolactin in human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. Prolactin, a 226 amino acid protein, is primarily secreted by the anterior pituitary gland and plays a crucial role in various physiological processes, including cell growth, reproduction, and immune function. Anti-Prolactin antibody (PRL-149L II) recognizes a protein involved in mammary gland development and lactation, with significance extending to the pathophysiology of mammary cancer, where Prolactin acts as both a mitogen and a differentiating agent. Prolactin enhances the proliferation of B cell hybridomas, which leads to increased antibody production, thereby playing a vital role in the immune response. Prolactin has been shown to counteract the antiproliferative effects of the immunosuppressive cytokine TGF-beta, highlighting its importance in immune regulation. Prolactin is implicated in various autoimmune diseases, including arthritis and type 1 diabetes, making Prolactin monoclonal antibody (PRL-149L II) an essential tool for scientists investigating these conditions in both cancer biology and immunology.

What blocking solution should I use with Prolactin (PRL-149L II): sc-69874 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

    Asked by: TinTin
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
