OATP-C Antibody (A-3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects OATP-C protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-OATP-C antibody (A-3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. OATP-C protein, also known as Solute Carrier Organic Anion Transporter Family Member 1B1, plays a crucial role in hepatic uptake of various organic anions, including cardiac glycosides and certain drugs like pravastatin. Exclusive localization to basolateral membrane of hepatocytes facilitates transport of substrates from bloodstream into liver cells, influencing drug metabolism and clearance. OATP-C expression is modulated by compounds such as phenobarbital and pregnenolone-16a-carbonitrile, which can enhance uptake capacity for cardiac glycosides, highlighting importance in pharmacokinetics and potential drug interactions. While OATP-C mRNA levels fluctuate during pregnancy, protein levels remain relatively stable, indicating tightly regulated expression essential for maintaining liver function and homeostasis. OATP-C serves as a vital target for studies related to liver function, drug transport, and pharmacological effects of various compounds in mouse, rat, and human models.
