Nectin 3 Antibody (N3.2.9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects Nectin 3 in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Nectin 3 is a crucial transmembrane protein that plays a significant role in cell adhesion and communication, particularly in the nervous system and during viral infections. Nectin 3 is part of the Nectin family, which includes Nectin 1, 2, and 3, and is characterized by three immunoglobulin-like domains in the extracellular region. Notably, Nectin 3 has three splicing variants: Nectin 3α, 3β, and 3γ, with the first two containing a conserved C-terminal motif that is essential for binding to the PDZ domain of afadin, a protein that connects Nectin 3 to the actin cytoskeleton. This interaction maintains the structural integrity of adherens junctions, where Nectin 3α co-localizes with Nectin 2, facilitating cell-cell adhesion and signaling. Nectin 3′s ability to mediate these interactions underscores its importance in both normal cellular functions and in disease pathogenesis, including its role as a receptor for α herpesviruses, making Nectin 3 a significant target for research and therapeutic applications.
