HVEM Antibody (CW10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects HVEM of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and flow cytometry (FCM). HVEM Antibody (CW10) is available in both conjugated and non-conjugated forms, providing flexibility for various experimental needs. HVEM, or herpes virus entry mediator A, is a 283 amino acid single-pass type I membrane protein that plays a crucial role in immune response and viral pathogenesis. HVEM is predominantly expressed in lung, spleen, and thymus, where HVEM serves as a receptor for herpes simplex virus (HSV) glycoprotein D, facilitating viral entry into T lymphocytes. HVEM interacts with two important ligands: secreted lymphotoxin and LIGHT, a member of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily produced by activated T-cells. HVEM interaction with LIGHT is particularly significant as this interaction induces apoptosis and suppresses tumor formation, highlighting HVEM′s potential role in cancer immunology. Structurally, HVEM consists of three TNFR-Cys repeats, which are essential for function and interactions, and HVEM is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1, a region encompassing nearly 8% of the human genome and containing over 3,000 genes. This intricate relationship between HVEM and its ligands underscores HVEM′s importance in both immune regulation and viral pathogenesis, making anti-HVEM antibody (CW10) a valuable tool for researchers studying these critical biological processes.

Can HVEM (CW10): sc-21718 monoclonal antibody be used in IF or IHC with mouse tissue or cells? Will there be non-specific staining?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. The use of mouse monoclonal antibodies with mouse samples is very common and typically poses no problem. To eliminate any potential cross-reactivity of an anti-mouse secondary detection reagent, HVEM (CW10): sc-21718 is available in a variety of direct conjugations, such as HRP, PE, FITC and AlexaFluors.
