p-Histone H2A.X Antibody (Ser139-7G9-H4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG antibody that detects p-Histone H2A.X in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). p-Histone H2A.X, also known as γ-H2A.X, is a phosphorylated variant of the histone H2A.X protein, which plays a crucial role in the cellular response to DNA damage, particularly in the recognition and repair of double-stranded breaks. Upon exposure to ionizing radiation or other genotoxic stress, H2A.X is rapidly phosphorylated at serine 139, leading to the formation of distinct nuclear foci that serve as recruitment sites for DNA repair proteins, including Rad50, Rad51, and BRCA1. This phosphorylation event is vital for initiating the DNA damage response, as γ-H2A.X marks the sites of damage and facilitates the assembly of repair complexes, thereby maintaining genomic stability. The presence of γ-H2A.X foci is not only a marker of DNA damage but also an indicator of the cell′s ability to respond to and repair such damage, making anti-p-Histone H2A.X antibody (Ser139-7G9-H4) an essential tool for researchers studying DNA repair mechanisms and the effects of genotoxic agents in various biological contexts.
