V1RA4 Inhibitors

V1RA4 inhibitors are a class of compounds that specifically target the vasopressin receptor 1A subtype, known as V1RA4, to impede its interaction with vasopressin. Compounds such as SR49059 and Relcovaptan exhibit high specificity for V1RA4, acting by competitively binding to the receptor's active sites, which results in a blockade of vasopressin's effect on various physiological processes. The inhibition of V1RA4 through these antagonists, including Tolvaptan and Conivaptan, leads to a reduction in vasopressin-mediated vasoconstriction and water reabsorption, which are critical in the regulation of blood pressure and fluid balance.
