TET1 Activators

Common TET1 Activators include, but are not limited to Retinoic Acid, all trans CAS 302-79-4, 5-Azacytidine CAS 320-67-2, Fluorouracil CAS 51-21-8, L-Ascorbic acid, free acid CAS 50-81-7 and Resveratrol CAS 501-36-0.

TET1, or Ten-Eleven Translocation 1, is a crucial enzyme involved in the epigenetic regulation of DNA. It functions primarily by catalyzing the conversion of 5-methylcytosine (5mC) to 5-hydroxymethylcytosine (5hmC), a modification known to play a significant role in DNA demethylation. This process is pivotal for the regulation of gene expression, cellular differentiation, and the maintenance of cellular identity. As part of the TET family, which also includes TET2 and TET3, TET1 has a vital role in early embryonic development, stem cell pluripotency, and the suppression of tumorigenesis. The enzyme's action is not just restricted to the conversion of 5mC to 5hmC; it can further oxidize 5hmC to produce 5-formylcytosine (5fC) and 5-carboxylcytosine (5caC), contributing to a dynamic landscape of DNA modifications.

TET1 activators are chemical entities designed to promote or enhance the enzymatic activity of TET1. These activators might function by stabilizing the enzyme, facilitating its binding to DNA, or increasing its affinity for its co-factors. By amplifying the natural activity of TET1, these activators can influence the epigenetic state of the cell, leading to changes in gene expression patterns. Given the importance of DNA methylation and demethylation in cellular processes, the use of TET1 activators could provide a mechanism to modulate these epigenetic marks, impacting a range of biological processes, from development to cellular response to environmental cues. The intricate balance of DNA modifications, including those introduced by TET1, underscores the importance of understanding and harnessing the capabilities of TET1 activators in various biological contexts.
