CD48 Activators are chemical compounds that interact with CD48 or the pathways it is directly involved in, enhancing the functional activity of CD48. Phorbol 12-myristate 13-acetate and Lipopolysaccharide enhance CD48 activity by activating the NF-κB pathway, in which CD48 is involved. Resveratrol enhances the activity of CD48 by activating Sirtuin 1, leading to deacetylation of NF-κB, thereby enhancing its activity. Epigallocatechin gallate and Curcumin can enhance the functional activity of CD48 by inhibiting the activity of DNA methyltransferases, leading to hypomethylation of the CD48 promoter and increased gene activity. Sodium butyrate enhances the activity of CD48 by inhibitinghistone deacetylase, leading to hyperacetylation of histones at the CD48 promoter and consequently increased gene activity.
BAY 11-7082 and Parthenolide are inhibitors of IκBα phosphorylation, leading to activation of NF-κB, which is a pathway that CD48 is involved in. This activation, therefore, can enhance the functional activity of CD48. Anacardic acid, on the other hand, inhibits histone acetyltransferases, which may result in hypoacetylation of histones at the CD48 promoter, leading to increased gene activity and enhanced functional activity of CD48. Genistein and Quercetin inhibit the activity of DNA methyltransferases, which can lead to hypomethylation of the CD48 promoter, leading to increased gene activity and enhanced functional activity of CD48. Lastly, Caffeic acid phenethyl ester inhibits NF-κB activation by preventing the degradation of IκBα, which can lead to enhanced functional activity of CD48, as it is involved in the NF-κB pathway.
