ATP11 Activators

Chemical activators of ATP11 are compounds that influence mitochondrial biogenesis, function, or membrane composition, thereby indirectly affecting ATP11. These activators function by modulating signaling pathways and cellular states that are conducive to the enhancement of mitochondrial content and activity. For instance, bezafibrate and pioglitazone are PPAR agonists that stimulate the biogenesis of mitochondria, which may lead to a greater need for ATP11's role in assembling and maintaining mitochondrial membranes. Leucine, through mTOR activation, and AICAR, via AMPK activation, promote mitochondrial biogenesis, which could increase the expression and function of mitochondrial proteins, including ATP11.

Furthermore, mitochondrial-targeted compounds like coenzyme Q10 and alpha-lipoic acid are essential for optimal mitochondrial function and may increase the requirement for ATP11 to maintain mitochondrial integrity. Compounds such as urolithin A and PQQ enhance mitophagy and mitochondrial biogenesis, respectively, and may create conditions that necessitate increased activity of ATP11. Sirtuin activators like SRT1720 and resveratrol also support mitochondrial biogenesis, influencing ATP11 indirectly. Lastly, curcumin and NAD+ precursors support mitochondrial function and can impact ATP11 activity necessary for the assembly and maintenance of mitochondrial phospholipid composition.
