ARAP2 Activators

ARAP2, also known as ArfGAP with RhoGAP domain, Ankyrin Repeat and PH domain 2, is a multi-domain protein that is part of the ArfGAP family. The protein is encoded by the ARAP2 gene in humans.The ARAP2 protein is unique due to its combined ArfGAP and RhoGAP activities. The ArfGAP domain of ARAP2 has been shown to regulate ADP ribosylation factor (Arf) proteins, which are involved in vesicle trafficking and actin remodeling. The RhoGAP domain, on the other hand, regulates Rho GTPases that are crucial for actin cytoskeleton organization and cell migration.

ARAP2 is also characterized by its PH (pleckstrin homology) and ankyrin repeat domains that facilitate interaction with phosphoinositides and other proteins, respectively. These interactions contribute to the protein's localization and protein-protein interaction capabilities.The protein is expressed in many tissues, with prominent expression in the immune system. It is implicated in various cellular processes including cell adhesion, migration, and possibly angiogenesis.ARAP2's dual ArfGAP and RhoGAP activities make it a key component in coordinating the cross-talk between Arf and Rho signaling pathways, which are crucial in numerous cellular processes.
