UFD2 Antibody (7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects UFD2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. UFD2, also known as ubiquitin conjugation factor E4 (UBE4B), plays a crucial role in the ubiquitin-proteasome system by binding to ubiquitin moieties of preformed conjugates and facilitating the assembly of ubiquitin chains in collaboration with E1, E2, and E3 enzymes. This process is vital for regulating protein degradation, which is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis and responding to stress. During apoptosis, UFD2 undergoes proteolytic cleavage at Asp 123 by caspase-6 and granzyme B, with a significantly lower cleavage efficiency at Asp 109 by caspase-3 and caspase-7. UFD2′s ability to modulate protein turnover is particularly important in eukaryotic cells, as research has linked UFD2 to cell survival under stress conditions in yeast, suggesting that E4-dependent proteolysis pathways are utilized for various cellular functions across species. UFD2 is predominantly expressed in the ovary, testis, heart, and skeletal muscle, highlighting UFD2′s potential significance in reproductive and muscular health.
