SLAM Antibody (9D1) is a rat monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects SLAM in mouse samples through flow cytometry (FCM). SLAM, or signaling lymphocyte-activation molecule, plays a crucial role in T cell activation and proliferation by providing a costimulatory signal independent of the CD28 pathway. This unique mechanism enhances T cell expansion during antigen recognition, vital for effective immune defense. SLAM is primarily located on T cell surfaces, where SLAM interacts with ligands on antigen-presenting cells, facilitating communication between these cell types. This interaction promotes T cell activation and influences the overall immune response, making SLAM significant in both adaptive and innate immunity. SLAM-associated protein (SAP) interacts with SLAM, containing an SH2 domain that inhibits SH-PTP2 recruitment to the SLAM docking site, a process regulated by Fyn phosphorylation. Mutations in the SAP gene have been linked to X-linked lymphoproliferative disease (XLP), highlighting SLAM′s importance in maintaining immune system integrity. Anti-SLAM antibody (9D1) serves as an essential tool for researchers studying T cell biology and immune response mechanisms.
