Rat endothelium Antibody (OX43) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects rat endothelium protein of mouse and rat origin by immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry (FCM). Rat endothelium (OX43) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The endothelium, composed of simple squamous epithelial cells, lines the lumen of all blood vessels and plays a vital role in maintaining vascular homeostasis. A selective barrier regulates the passage of substances between the bloodstream and surrounding tissues, which is crucial for processes such as nutrient delivery and waste removal. Additionally, endothelium secretes various vasoactive substances that influence the contraction and relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, modulating vascular tone and blood flow. This dynamic tissue also plays a significant role in regulating coagulation and leukocyte adhesion, making endothelium essential for both normal physiological functions and response to injury or inflammation. Using rat endothelium (OX43) monoclonal antibody, researchers can gain valuable insights into endothelial biology and its implications in various cardiovascular diseases.

The immunogen used for this antibody is macrophage. Can I use this antibody to detect rat macrophages? I tried this antibody but it doesn’t stain vessel endothelial cells on rat skin. Instead, it stained single cells in the dermis.

Asked by: Wingyue
Thank you for your question. This antibody recognises a 90kD antigen on all vascular endothelial cells except in the brain. It also can be used to recognize peritoneal macrophages, subset alveolar macrophages and erythrocytes. Please contact our Technical Service for help with troubleshooting the antibody.

How can rat endothelium (OX43): sc-53109 mouse monoclonal antibody be used for double or triple staining, if the other primary antibodies are also raised in mouse?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
In this case, we recommend using a directly conjugated mouse monoclonal primary antibody. This antibody is available conjugated to phycoerythrin (sc-53109 PE) or fluoroscein (sc-53109 FITC).
