SEE ALSO...

MLN64 Antibody (H-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects MLN64 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). MLN64 (H-1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. MLN64 protein plays a crucial role in cholesterol transport, particularly in the late endosomal compartment, where MLN64 is involved in the trafficking of cholesterol to cytoplasmic receptor sites. This function is vital as MLN64 helps regulate cholesterol levels within cells, which is essential for maintaining cellular membrane integrity and signaling pathways. Dysregulation of cholesterol transport has been implicated in various diseases, including cancer, where amplification of MLN64 gene has been observed in breast cancer cell lines, leading to overexpression and coamplification with ErbB-2. Immunoblot analysis reveals that MLN64 is expressed in a majority of breast cancer cell lines and tissues, as well as in ovarian carcinoma cell lines, while immunofluorescence microscopy demonstrates MLN64 cytoplasmic localization, particularly in condensation sites and perinuclear regions in breast cancer biopsies. MLN64′s ability to modulate cholesterol levels highlights MLN64′s potential as a therapeutic target in conditions characterized by altered lipid metabolism.
