LASS1 Antibody (3F9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the LASS1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-LASS1 antibody (3F9) is available as a non-conjugated format. The LASS (longevity assurance homolog) family, which includes six members involved in sphingolipid synthesis, is highly conserved across species from yeasts to mammals. LASS1, also known as LAG1, is a 350 amino acid ceramide synthase located in the endoplasmic reticulum membrane, playing a crucial role in the synthesis of sphingolipids, which are vital for cellular signaling and membrane integrity. The gene encoding LASS1 is bicistronic, containing both the LASS1 and GDF1 open reading frames, and two isoforms of LASS1 have been identified, with isoform 2 lacking the last 13 amino acids of the full-length protein. Notably, LASS1 has been implicated in the regulation of cell death and growth inhibition in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) through the activation of caspase-3 and caspase-9, particularly in response to chemotherapeutic agents such as gemcitabine and doxorubicin, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target.
