QUICK LINKS

Ipratropium-d7 Bromide is a chemical compound that functions as a competitive antagonist of acetylcholine at muscarinic receptors in the airways. It inhibits the interaction of acetylcholine with its receptors, leading to a reduction in the contractility of smooth muscle in the respiratory system. Ipratropium-D7 Bromide blocks the M3 muscarinic receptor subtype, which is responsible for bronchoconstriction and mucus secretion. By doing so, it prevents the constriction of the airways and reduces the production of respiratory secretions. This mechanism of action results in the dilation of the bronchi and bronchioles, leading to improved airflow in the lungs. Ipratropium-d7 Bromide competes with acetylcholine for binding to the muscarinic receptors, thereby preventing the downstream signaling cascade that would normally lead to bronchoconstriction.
