Flubendazole is a potent broad spectrum anthelmintic. It is used in laboratory experiments as an effective tool for the study of biological processes, such as cell growth and differentiation, gene expression, cell signaling pathways, and metabolism. Flubendazole works by inhibiting the polymerization of tubulin, which is necessary for the formation of microtubules. This disrupts the normal functioning of the cell, resulting in cell death. It has also been found to inhibit the activity of acetylcholinesterase, carboxylesterase, and cytochrome P450. Flubendazole is effective against a wide range of parasites, including roundworms, hookworms, and tapeworms, as well as protozoan parasites, such as Giardia, Trichomonas, and Entamoeba.
