SEE ALSO...

Biglycan Antibody (910E2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects biglycan in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Biglycan is a class I small leucine-rich proteoglycan (SLRP) that plays a crucial role in the extracellular matrix, influencing bone cell differentiation and proliferation. This protein is characterized by the presence of two chondroitin sulfate glucosaminoglycan chains attached near its amino terminus, distinguishing biglycan from decorin, which has only one. The structural composition of biglycan contributes to the regulation of collagen synthesis and the response to transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ), both essential for maintaining bone integrity and homeostasis. Notably, specimens deficient in biglycan exhibit a reduced capacity to generate bone cell precursors, diminished collagen production, and increased apoptosis, highlighting biglycan′s importance in skeletal health. Furthermore, research indicates that patients with rheumatoid arthritis show heightened immune responses to biglycan, while those with osteoarthritis do not, suggesting that variations in immune reactivity to SLRPs may influence the pathogenesis of inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Anti-biglycan antibody (910E2) is therefore an invaluable tool for researchers investigating the roles of this proteoglycan in bone biology and its implications in various rheumatic conditions.
