对人类精浆提取物进行碱处理，可将样品中的 19- 羟基 PGE 化合物转化为相应的 PGB 化合物，生成强共轭二烯酮发色团。该方法是一种基于紫外的 PGE 快速定量分析方法。由于 19(R)-hydroxy PGB2 化学性质稳定，在 278 纳米波长处具有很强的紫外吸光度，因此也被用作提取和 HPLC 中的内标，以确定花生四烯酸代谢物的回收率（1,2,3）。
