This domain is typified by eight cysteine residues that form four disulfide bonds, contributing to a stable 3-dimensional structure.WFDC6 is typically expressed in epithelial cells, and its expression pattern suggests a role in the protection and regulation of the epithelial environment. Members of the WFDC family often have functions related to innate immunity, including antimicrobial properties and involvement in the modulation of inflammation.
