SEE ALSO...

cytochrome c Antibody (A-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 1-104 of equine cytochrome c, reactive with mouse, rat, and human proteins. cytochrome c, also known as CYCS or somatic cytochrome c, is a small heme protein located in the mitochondrial intermembrane space. Such localization allows cytochrome c to play a key role in the electron transport chain, transferring electrons between Complex III (cytochrome bc1 complex) and Complex IV (cytochrome c oxidase), which is essential for ATP production during oxidative phosphorylation. cytochrome c′s position in the mitochondria enables participation in the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis; upon release into the cytosol, cytochrome c interacts with apoptotic protease activating factor-1 (Apaf-1) to form the apoptosome, leading to the activation of caspase-9 and downstream effector caspases like caspase-3. Release of cytochrome c from mitochondria is a pivotal event in programmed cell death, and dysregulation of this process is associated with diseases such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders. cytochrome c monoclonal Antibody (A-8) is suitable for applications including western blotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry on paraffin-embedded sections, flow cytometry (FCM), and ELISA. Researchers utilize cytochrome anti-c Antibody (A-8) to study mitochondrial function, apoptosis mechanisms, and related cellular processes, providing insights into energy metabolism and cell death pathways essential for understanding various physiological and pathological conditions.

Does this antibody recognize both apocytochrome c and holocytochrome c?

Asked by: summer12
Thank you for your question. cytochrome c Antibody (A-8): sc-13156 has been raised against amino acids 1-104 of cytochrome c of equine origin and recognizes its target protein based on that sequence. Since this sequence is present in both holo- and apocytochrome c, the antibody should be able to detect those variants as well.

Please advise if this antibody (sc-13156) will work on frozen sections from rabbit eyes

Asked by: Paula Yu
Thank you for your question. Cytochrome c Antibody (A-8): sc-13156 has not been tested in rabbit cells or tissues, so we do not have any data on whether or not it would work in rabbit eye frozen sections. Please contact our Technical Service directly to arrange for a sample of this antibody if you would like to try it in your experimental setup.
