    SEE ALSO...

Cardiotin Antibody (SR-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgM antibody that detects Cardiotin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Cardiotin antibody (SR-2) is available in a non-conjugated form, specifically designed for Cardiotin detection. Cardiotin is a high molecular weight protein complex predominantly located in the mitochondrial membrane, where Cardiotin plays a crucial role in maintaining mitochondrial function and cellular energy metabolism. Cardiotin′s structure consists of two subunits that share a highly conserved N-terminal 14 amino acid sequence, exhibiting significant homology to human skeletal muscle α-actinin. This structural similarity suggests Cardiotin forms a tetrameric transmembrane complex, with its N-terminus oriented towards the cytoplasm, allowing Cardiotin to interact effectively with actin filaments. Such interactions are vital for the structural integrity and functionality of cardiomyocytes, particularly during cardiac contractile dysfunction, where Cardiotin distribution can be disrupted in pathological conditions like chronic ischemic myocardium. Cardiotin (SR-2) monoclonal antibody serves as a valuable tool in immunohistochemistry for assessing mitochondrial activity disturbances in cardiomyocytes, providing insights into conditions such as chronic ischemia or chronic atrial fibrillation.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with Cardiotin (SR-2): sc-53002 monoclonal antibody?

    Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
