Parthenolide specifically inhibits HDAC1 (histone deacetylase 1) without affecting other class I/II HDACs. It is a sesquiterpene lactone, a class of plant terpenoids. Parthenolide has demonstrated anti-inflammatory activity. Parthenolide may act to inhibit the release of various chemical mediators such as Cox-2, TNF-alpha and IL-1 in LPS-stimulated macrophages and activation of MAP kinase and NFκbeta. Recent findings indicate that parthenolide binds to and directly inhibits IKK (Iκbeta kinase). The compound has also been shown to block the production of thromboxane B2 and leukotriene B4.

You know that Parthenolide is not soluble in water, therefore it is not well adsorbed. What are you doing for better absorption?

Asked by: Judith
Thank you for your question. Parthenolide (CAS 20554-84-1) is soluble in DMSO (100 mg/ml), ethanol (20 mg/ml), and water (partly miscible). We have not used this chemical directly in any research applications. Additional references are provided below that may be helpful in answering your question. 1. Groenewegen, W.A., et al. 1990. J.
