Paclobutrazol is a chlorinated triazole pesticide that inhibits gibberellin biosynthesis and acts as a plant growth retardant. It is used in a variety of laboratory experiments, such as plant physiology, biochemistry, and pathology. Specifically, it can be employed to study the effects of gibberellin and other plant hormones, such as auxins and cytokinins, on plant growth and development. Additionally, Paclobutrazol may act to reduce plant height, stem diameter, and the number of leaves. Paclobutrazol also affects the development of flowers, as it can delay flowering or reduce the number of flowers.
