QUICK LINKS

Glyceryl tributyrate, also known as tributyrin, is a glycerol substituted with three butyrl esters. Glyceryl tributyrate is described to induce differentiation of malignant cells followed by arrest of cell growth and apoptosis. Glyceryl tributyrate is described for use as a deliverable source of natural butyrate, and Glyceryl tributyrate is demonstrated to inhibit growth of and induce cell differentiation of Caco-2 cells more potently than natural butyrate.
