DHEA is a major secretory steroidal product of the adrenal gland. DHEA and its sulfated metabolite, DHEA-S, are negative modulators of GABAA receptors. DHEA is an inhibitor of T-type Ca++ CP alpha 1G, T-type Ca++ CP alpha 1H and T-type Ca++ CP alpha 1I and an activator of Sigma Receptor, PXR and Estrogen Receptor.
