QUICK LINKS
Belonging to the aromatic compounds group is the organic substance known as Decahydro-2-naphthol. Within its structure, it presents two isomers – 2,6-decahydronaphthalene and 2,7-decahydronaphthalene. The process of obtaining Decahydro-2-naphthol involves oxidizing decahydronaphthalene with the aid of an oxidation catalyst, such as platinum dioxide. Despite its properties, the risk group classification for this compound remains uncertain. Notably, Decahydro-2-naphthol exhibits anticancer properties by forming bonds with the carbonyl group on DNA, thereby inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis through the suppression of ribonucleotide reductase enzyme activity. Furthermore, this substance has demonstrated the ability to enhance reaction rates, including substrate binding, when engaged in ternary complex interactions with other compounds.
