QUICK LINKS

Cholesteryl chloride, also known as 3-chlorocholest-5-ene or 3β-chlorocholest-5-ene, is an organochloride derivative of cholesterol. It consists of a cholesterol molecule and a chloride anion, forming clockwise cholesteric liquid crystals. In combination with cholesteryl nonanoate, cholesteryl benzoate, and/or cholesteryl oleyl carbonate, it can be used in thermochromic liquid crystals.
