Azimsulfuron is a molecular probe. It is also a potent herbicide employed for the management of annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in agricultural fields. Its mode of action involves inhibiting chlorophyll production, leading to a disruption of photosynthesis and the synthesis of vital plant constituents. To ensure optimal efficacy, azimsulfuron is typically applied at concentrations ranging from 0.5 to 1 parts per million (ppm) however, exceeding this range can result in toxicity. The chemical stability of azimsulfuron is pH-dependent, with a half-life of approximately 4 hours at pH 7 and less than 1 hour at pH 3.
