Rent1 Antibody (B-4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 antibody that detects Rent1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rent1, also known as the regulator of nonsense transcripts and HUpf1, plays a crucial role in the nonsense-mediated RNA decay (NMD) pathway, which maintains cellular integrity by preventing the translation of defective mRNA transcripts that could lead to harmful truncated proteins. Rent1 is primarily located in the cytoplasm, where Rent1 interacts with other key components of the NMD machinery, such as Rent2, a mammalian homolog of Upf2p, and Rent3 proteins, which link splicing and NMD processes. Rent1′s presence in the cytoplasm is essential for function, allowing timely degradation of faulty transcripts and safeguarding the cell from potential damage caused by aberrant protein synthesis. Rent1 contains an N-terminal zinc finger-like domain and NTPase domains, which are critical for helicase activity, enabling RNA structure unwinding during the decay process. Rent1′s ability to bind RNA and modulation by ATP further underscore Rent1′s importance in regulating gene expression and maintaining cellular homeostasis.
