p-CKR-5 Antibody (V14/2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects CKR-5 in human samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. CKR-5, a member of the C-C chemokine receptor family, plays a crucial role in the immune response by acting as a receptor for various chemokines, which are essential for the chemotaxis of immune cells such as T cells and monocytes to sites of inflammation. Notably, CKR-5 serves as a coreceptor for HIV, facilitating viral entry into host cells, particularly those that are macrophage-tropic. CKR-5′s structure includes a seven-pass transmembrane domain, which is vital for signal transduction. Upon binding of an agonist, CKR-5 undergoes phosphorylation at four distinct serine residues located in its carboxy terminus, a modification that is critical for interaction with G-proteins and subsequent receptor desensitization. This phosphorylation not only regulates CKR-5′s activity but also influences CKR-5′s ability to mediate immune responses and viral infection, making CKR-5 a significant target for therapeutic interventions in HIV and inflammatory diseases.
