myogenin Antibody (D-10) is a mouse monoclonal IgG3 kappa light chain antibody raised against amino acids 1-225 of human myogenin, a muscle-specific transcription factor also known as MYOG. myogenin monoclonal antibody (D-10) is validated for use in western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), and reacts with proteins from mouse, rat, and human species. myogenin belongs to the myogenic regulatory factor (MRF) family, which includes MyoD, Myf-5, and Myf-6 (MRF4 or herculin), all of which are key regulators of muscle cell differentiation. myogenin functions as a basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) transcription factor that forms heterodimers with E proteins, such as E2A and HEB, enabling binding to E-box sequences (CANNTG) in the promoter regions of muscle-specific genes. Expression is activated during the transition from myoblasts to differentiated muscle cells, making myogenin essential for the development of functional skeletal muscle. By controlling the transcription of genes involved in terminal differentiation, myogenin ensures the proper formation and repair of muscle tissue.
