Mucin 1 Antibody (SM3) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects Mucin 1 in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. Anti-Mucin 1 antibody (SM3) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Mucin 1 plays a crucial role in cell signaling and adhesion, acting as a protective barrier on epithelial surfaces and influencing tumor progression. Mucin 1 expression is particularly significant in epithelial tumors, such as breast carcinomas, where Mucin 1 can contribute to tumorigenesis and metastasis. Mucin 1 is primarily localized to the apical surface of epithelial cells, where Mucin 1 forms a protective mucosal layer, which is essential for maintaining tissue integrity and function. Understanding the localization and function of Mucin 1 is vital for developing targeted therapies in cancer treatment, as Mucin 1 overexpression can serve as a biomarker for malignancy.
