SEE ALSO...

GW182 Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects GW182 in mouse, rat, and human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). GW182, also known as the EMSY interactor protein, plays a pivotal role in the formation and maintenance of GW bodies (GWBs), which are essential for the regulation of microRNA (miRNA) and small interfering RNA (siRNA) activity. These intracellular structures serve as critical sites for mRNA storage and degradation, and GWBs integrity is vital for effective gene silencing. Disruption of GWBs can lead to impaired silencing activity, which has been linked to various diseases, including ataxia and Sjögren′s syndrome, where patients develop autoantibodies against GWB proteins. GW182 is ubiquitously expressed and interacts with endogenous argonaute-2 (Ago2), further emphasizing GW182′s importance in the miRNA pathway. Anti-GW182 antibody (E-1) provides a reliable tool for researchers studying the dynamics of GWBs and their implications in cellular processes and disease states.

I am using GW182 (E-1): sc-376939 monoclonal antibody to stain paraffin embedded tissue. Do you recommend antigen retrieval when using this antibody?

Asked by: AbPolly
We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
