cPLA2 Antibody (E-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects cPLA2 protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-cPLA2 antibody (E-1) is available as the non-conjugated form. cPLA2 protein, also known as cytosolic phospholipase A2, plays a crucial role in the hydrolysis of membrane phospholipids, specifically targeting the sn-2-acyl ester bond. This enzymatic activity is vital for the release of arachidonic acid, a key precursor in the biosynthesis of eicosanoids, which include potent inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. cPLA2 protein generates these bioactive lipids essential for various physiological processes, including inflammation, pain response, and immune regulation. cPLA2 protein is predominantly located in the cytosol of various cell types, including platelets, macrophages, and monoblasts, where activation occurs in response to increases in intracellular calcium levels. This localization allows for rapid mobilization of arachidonic acid in response to cellular signals, thereby influencing inflammatory responses and other critical cellular functions.
