ACCα Antibody (D-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects ACCα protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). ACCα (D-5) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates, providing versatility for different experimental needs. Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) plays a crucial role in lipid metabolism, catalyzing the carboxylation of acetyl-CoA to malonyl-CoA, which is the rate-limiting step in fatty acid synthesis. This enzymatic activity regulates the production of long-chain fatty acids, essential for energy storage and membrane synthesis. ACCα isoform, also known as ACC1, is predominantly expressed in lipogenic tissues and regulated by phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of specific serine residues, as well as by allosteric interactions with metabolites such as citrate and palmitoyl-CoA. These regulatory mechanisms ensure fatty acid synthesis is appropriately modulated in response to cellular energy demands and nutritional status. Located on human chromosome 17, ACCα plays a significant role in metabolic pathways. Understanding ACCα function and regulation is vital for elucidating its role in metabolic disorders, including obesity and diabetes, making anti-ACCα antibody (D-5) an essential tool for researchers studying lipid metabolism and related diseases.
