ZP1 Antibody (M1.4) is a rat monoclonal IgG2a antibody that detects ZP1 in mouse samples through western blotting (WB) and immunoprecipitation (IP) applications. ZP1 is one of the three major glycoproteins that compose the mammalian zona pellucida, alongside ZP2 and ZP3, and plays a crucial role in the fertilization process. ZP1 is primarily located in the extracellular matrix surrounding the oocyte, where ZP1 forms a protective barrier essential for gamete interaction. The zona pellucida not only facilitates sperm binding to the oocyte but also ensures species-specific fertilization, preventing polyspermy. ZP1′s structural integrity is vital, as ZP1 contributes to the overall architecture of the zona pellucida, influencing sperm binding affinity and the subsequent acrosome reaction. Proper functioning of ZP1 is critical for successful fertilization, making ZP1 an important target for studies related to reproductive biology and fertility. Anti-ZP1 antibody (M1.4) is an invaluable tool for researchers investigating fertilization mechanisms and zona pellucida protein roles in reproductive health.

What blocking solution should I use with ZP1 (M1.4): sc-32751 monoclonal antibody for Western blot?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your question. We recommend blocking with Blotto (either TBS Blotto A: sc-2333 or TBS Blotto B: sc-2335). Our Western blot protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/western-immuno-blotting
