Zofenopril Calcium Salt is an antioxidant that acts as an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. Studies indicate that Zofenopril Calcium Salt increases the calcium cycling of sarcoplasmic reticulum and enhances active calcium uptake into the sarcoplasmic reticulum. The compounds Zofenopril Calcium Salt and Captopril (sc-200566) are suggested to be the only ACE inhibitors that structurally have sulphydryl groups (SH). Zofenopril Calcium Salt has been reported to convert into Zofenoprilat (sc-220411), the active free sulfhydryl compound, after metabolic hydrolysis.
