Zinc acetate is a compound used in the synthesis of layered zinc arylphosphonates. These studies indicate that Zinc acetate is useful in sorption, ion exchange and catalysis. Zinc acetate is a key component in the ultrasonic preparation involving coating on silica particles with zinc sulfide. Alternate studies indicate that Zinc acetate is a great alternative stain used in sodium dodecyl sulfate-gel electrophoresis that results in rapid, sensitive, and reversible staining.
