ZD 7288 has been reported to block Ih in central neurons, and inhibit the hyperpolarization activated cation current If. ZD 7288 is an effective modulator of sino-atrial node function that acts by blocking the hyperpolarization-activated cation current If, which is mediated by HCN channels. It also inhibits Ih in central neurons and exerts an inhibitory effect on synaptic transmission. In addition, ZD 7288 demonstrates selective inhibition of the Ih channel. Furthermore, it has been observed to enhance the release of noradrenaline in rat brain tissue in vitro when NMDA is present.
