Z-GGL-AMC is a fluorogenic substrate for the chymotrypsin-like activity of the 20S proteasome. It is a sensitive fluorogenic substrate for subtilisins BPN′ and Carlsberg. 7-(N-Benzyloxycarbonylglycyl-glycyl-leucyl)amino-4-methylcoumarin (7-BGLAMC) is an innovative fluorescent probe designed specifically for detecting proteases and other enzymes. Derived from coumarin, a natural fluorescent compound found in plants, this probe has garnered extensive attention in the fields of biochemistry, and physiology. The fluorescent probe, 7-(N-Benzyloxycarbonylglycyl-glycyl-leucyl)amino-4-methylcoumarin, can be activated through protease activity. Upon cleavage by a protease, it emits a fluorescent signal, allowing for the detection of the protease′s presence. Activation of the probe occurs when the amide bond within the BGL moiety is hydrolyzed by the protease, liberating the fluorescent moiety.
