YM 155 is a small molecule inhibitor that functions by targeting and inhibiting the activity of the survivin protein. Ym 155 disrupts the function of survivin by binding to its active site, thereby preventing its interaction with other cellular components. By doing so, YM 155 interferes with the regulation of cell division and apoptosis, ultimately leading to the inhibition of cancer cell growth and proliferation. YM 155 may induce apoptosis in cancer cells by downregulating the expression of survivin.
