Y-25130 is a potent and selective serotonin 5-HT3 antagonist. This product was demonstrated to be an antiemetic agent valuable for countering adverse effects seen in anticancer therapy including cisplatin. In studies involving rat hippocampal slices, Y-25130 exhibited dose-dependent neuroprotective effects against an ischemia-induced decrease in CA1 field potential. It has also been reported to attenuate the cocaine-induced decrease of intracranial self-stimulation (ICSS) reward thresholds in rats. Other results of the 5-HT3 antagonistic activity of Y-25130 led to the acceleration of gastric emptying in mice.
