Xylazine Hydrochloride is an activator of alpha2A-AR, alpha2B-AR and alpha2C-AR. It is a potent, non-narcotic, centrally acting sedative and analgesic agent derived from the alkaloid cinchonine, which is found in the bark of the Cinchona tree. Xylazine Hydrochloride may act to affect the release of neurotransmitters, including dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin, as well as hormones, such as cortisol and prolactin. Studies have reported anticonvulsant, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive, and anesthetic effects of this compound.
