XPC Antibody (A-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects XPC in human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). XPC plays a crucial role in the nucleotide excision repair (NER) pathway, which is essential for maintaining genomic stability by repairing bulky DNA lesions, such as those caused by ultraviolet light. Anti-XPC antibody (A-5) helps researchers study conditions like xeroderma pigmentosum, a condition characterized by extreme sensitivity to sunlight, where NER deficiencies increase skin cancer risk. XPC protein is primarily located in the nucleus, where XPC recognizes and binds to damaged DNA, facilitating the recruitment of other repair factors to initiate the repair process. Proper localization of XPC is vital for function, as any disruption can impair DNA repair mechanisms, leading to mutation accumulation and increased cancer susceptibility. XPC monoclonal antibody (A-5) serves as an invaluable tool for studying DNA repair mechanisms and the molecular basis of diseases associated with defective DNA repair pathways.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with XPC (A-5): sc-74411 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: Randy McDonald
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10°C methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
