XMD 8-92 is shown to be an extremely selective ERK5/BMK1 inhibitor that presents selectivity over 402 diverse kinases. This compound is shown to be an anti-proliferative agent via inhibition of growth factor-induced activation of cellular BMK1 and reducing of BMK1 activity in in vitro kinase assays.
