XL657 is an extremely potent and selective inhibitor of EGFR phosphorylation (IC50 = 0.3 nM). Inhibition of EGFR blocks signal transduction and thus impedes vascularization. Also inhibits other receptor tyrosine kinases such as Neu (ErbB2), Flk-1 (KDR), EphB4, and Flt-4.
