WP631 dimethanesulfonate is a preparation of the bisintercalating anthracycline antibiotic WP631, which is also available as a dihydrochloride (sc-222418) and a methanesulfonate (sc-301978) preparation. WP631 is composed of two Daunorubicin (sc-200921) molecules linked through a p-xylenyl group. WP631 is described to inhibit basal transcription by RNA polymerase II and to block the activation of COL1A1 by the transcription factor Sp1. WP631 is described to demonstrate ultratight binding of DNA and also appears to overcome a specific form of multidrug resistance in its action.
