Wnt-C59 is a small molecule inhibitor that functions by targeting the Wnt signaling pathway. It acts by binding to the acyltransferase Porcupine, which is responsible for the palmitoylation of Wnt proteins. This binding prevents the secretion of Wnt proteins, thereby inhibiting the activation of the Wnt signaling pathway. By disrupting this pathway, Wnt-C59 effectively modulates cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. At the molecular level, Wnt-C59 exerts its action by interfering with the post-translational modification of Wnt proteins, ultimately leading to the downregulation of Wnt signaling.
